On 15th June 2021, the University of Notre Dame has published a new research report in the academic journal"Environmental Science and Technology Letters "reporting a fact of high concentrations of fluorine compounds (PFAS) in cosmetic products such as concealers, foundations, eye makeup, and lip makeup sold and used in the US andCanada.
PFAS is also known as "Forever Chemicals," a hazardous component causing cancers, child immunity, etc., which continues accumulating inside the human body and never degrades.
After the team's investigation on over 200 makeup cosmetic products, the team detected a high concentration of PFAS in 52% of the products.
These data tell us that there is so much toxicity in the makeup products we use every day. Even before we saw this report, many people probably also had the feeling that makeup would do something terrible to our bodies.
The "Toxic Defender Skincare"
This news immediately reminded me of one unique brand I knew. They have been looking into this problem for some years ago.
Slo-brew Botanical has an exciting product called the Geologist Herbal Claypack that applies a clay called montmorillonite, made from the volcanoes 65 million years ago. It has the property of generating a nano-molecular shield of clay minerals which allows you to do your makeups over it, the most prominent feature.
It's a different way of using clays only known by some professionals or DIY cosmetic freaks, and Slo-brew literally made it into a product for more people to have this helpful method in those hands.
It has 3 features:
And the products' primary purpose is so outstanding that it generates a "veil" to protect the skin from contaminations of the makeups & pollutants and provides an intense moisturizing effect simultaneously during the DAYTIME.
Geologist Herbal Claypack is different from those conventional claypacks designed for evening routines.
If you're worried about your makeup in contact with your skin, I think it's worth trying out this kind of physical segregating approach.
